View Coin   United States 10C 1925 NGC MS 67 FB The 1925 P Mercury Dime is a common issue, in the context of pre 1934 issues. This example however in MS67 FB is quite challenging, very few survivors at this level of preservation, and the coin is clearly original.
View Coin   United States 1C 1937 NGC PF 67 RD CAMEO 1937 was the second year of the brilliant modern proof Lincoln Cents and saw a mintage of just 9,320, the last year with a mintage below 10,000. This example is a hard to find Red PF67 Cameo with interesting toning in hues of copper red and golden orange. The holder is quite rough and makes the coin difficult to photograph, may reholder.
View Coin   United States 25C 1937 NGC PF 67 The 1937 Quarter has the second lowest mintage in the series with 5542 minted and becomes a truly scarce coin in grades PF67 and higher. This PF67+ example has nearly flawless surfaces, great mirrors and eye appeal. Between NGC and PCGC only 33 have graded higher.
View Coin   United States $1 1893 S NGC G 6 The 1893 S, with a mintage of just 77,000 is the King of circulation strike Morgan’s and is not cheap in any grade. Why I selected this coin: due to the cost of this issue I have chosen a coin graded as G6, the only Good in my Morgan collection and still valued at approx. $2,500 even in this grade. This coin has nice even wear, problem free surfaces, a natural battleship gray color, and remaining detail looks very close to VG.
View Coin   United States $20 1894 S NGC MS 62 The 1894 S is another fairly common date Double Eagle. This MS62 has a nice rich color along with good luster, it does show some light contact marks as expected with a 62 grade, but nothing particularly distracting.
View Coin   United States $20 1894 PCGS MS 63 The 1894 Double Eagle is a fairly common date, it does get scarce in grades above MS63, this choice MS example has great color, luster and strike and surfaces as would be expected of an MS63 coin.
View Coin   United States $5 1835 NGC AU 58 The Classic Head Half Eagle was minted for just 5 years, from 1834-1838. They were popular for use in commerce and as a result are challenging to find in higher AU grades and higher. This AU58 example has great eye appeal, the reverse is close to PL, it has just a touch of wear, great surfaces and a good amount of luster is present.
View Coin   United States 50C 1942 NGC PF 68 The Walking Liberty Half was minted from 1916-1947 and is another that was part of the coin renaissance of the early 20th century. I have again selected a proof coin as the representative of this example. This coin has great eye appeal with a nearly cameo look, very rare among the Walker Proofs. It has great mirrors, exceptional surfaces, with light toning around the perimeter. In addition to earning a grade of PF68 it has also earned a star designation for exceptional eye appeal.
View Coin   United States $20 1874 S NGC AU 58 The type 2 Liberty Double Eagle with a mintage run from 1866-1876 is the toughest of the Liberty Double Eagles and quite a challenging issue overall. This AU58 example has nice color, plenty of luster and very light wear.
View Coin   United States $10 1911 NGC MS 64 From 1908 till the end of the Gold Eagle for production as a coin for commerce at least, in 1933 it was produced with the Motto. This coin is a great example that on a good day would be a Gem, MS 64+ with a CAC sticker, coin has great strike, color, luster, and surfaces with just a few light notable only under magnification, contact marks.
View Coin   United States $5 1894 O NGC MS 61 The 1894 O is a challenge to find in any grade, and is the last half Eagle from the New Orleans mint. This coin is a bit scruffy, but has very nice color, luster, and some PL reflectivity and overall I consider it PQ for the grade. Only 17 graded higher at NGC, and 13 at PCGS. Mintage of only 16,600.
View Coin   United States $1 1921 PEACE HIGH RELIEF NGC MS 65 The final true Silver Dollar began in 1921 issued to memorialize the peace following WWI. The first year a high relief version was minted but due to production issues was modified to low relief version after the initial year. This example has an above average if not great strike light toning with plenty of luster and mostly smooth surfaces.
View Coin   United States 50C 1956 TYPE 2 NGC PF 69 ULTRA CAMEO In 1948 Franklin Half Dollars made their debut continuing until 1963. This example is a spectacular PF69 Ultra Cameo, a top pop coin. This coin has amazing contrast especially for a coin minted over 65 years ago, excellent mirrors and nearly flawless surfaces.
View Coin   United States 10C 1938 NGC PF 68 The 1938 Mercury Proof with a mintage of 8,728 is a bit easier to find than its predecessors, however, is slightly scarcer in the highest grades as only 10 have graded higher than 68 from either NGC or PCGS. This coin has deep mirrors, nearly flawless surfaces, and the reverse has as much cameo contrast as I have ever seen on a Mercury Dime proof. Exceptional eye appeal.
View Coin   United States 10C 1936 NGC PF 67 The 1936 Mercury Dime with a mintage of just 4,130 is the key to the series and a truly scarce issue. My example is a PQ 67 with blast white color, great mirrors, and pedigree. Between NGC and PCGS only 32 have graded higher.
View Coin   United States 5C 1937 NGC PF 67 The last 2 years of Buffalo Nickel Proofs we’re done with a Brilliant finish like modern proofs, this example is blast white with deep glassy mirrors and fantastic eye appeal.
View Coin   United States $5 1811 TALL 5 BD-1 NGC AU 55 Beginning in 1807 the obverse of the Quarter Eagles transitioned to a Capped Bust variety, the first of these, the Bust to the Left type had a 6-year run from 1807-1812, and a combined mintage of just 399,013 pieces. This is a nice AU55 example displaying some original mint luster, great surfaces, and a very nice strike.
View Coin   United States $20 1861 NGC AU 58 $20 Double Eagle coins first minted in 1850 featured Liberty’s head, the first type, type 1 covered 17 years till 1866 and was without the “in God we trust” motto. This AU58 example has some nice remaining luster, good detail with very little wear and decent surfaces for a large gold coin that saw circulation. It is also a Civil War time issue.
View Coin   United States $5 1804 SM/LG 8 NGC AU 50 The earliest Gold Half Eagles are the Draped Bust design, the earliest coins had the small Eagle reverse, this coin has the Heraldic Eagle reverse. Only 316,867 of these where minted from 1795-1807. This AU50 example has very nice eye appeal, with even wear, nice surfaces and color, and good remaining detail. It is also
an interesting over date variety.
View Coin   United States 10C 1941 NGC PF 68 Mercury Dimes my favorite Dime type, minted from 1916-1945, where part of a coin design renaissance of the early 20th century. This example has great eye appeal that is difficult to capture in 1 obverse picture. Holding under a light and rotating one can see a rainbow of colors on the obverse of this nearly flawless proof coin with deep mirrors. It was recognized with the Star designation on this PF68 Dime. While the 1941 issue has the second highest mintage of all Mercury Dime Proofs, only the 1936 issue saw fewer earn a PF68 grade.
View Coin   United States 50C 1940 NGC PF 68 Very unique toning, nearly flawless surfaces and great reflectivity.
View Coin   United States 50C 1904 NGC PF 66 Like the Quarter and the Dime, the Barber design Half is the initial Half Dollar coin of the 20th century. Outside of some Gold types, the Barber Half is the most challenging type of the 20th century types, particularly in higher grades. This is a very nice Proof example that has excellent mirrors and good contrast, nearly Cameo, along with nice surfaces. A very attractive coin, that has also earned a CAC sticker.
View Coin   United States 25C 1930 NGC MS 67 FH The type 3 version of the Standing Liberty Quarter had a production run from 1925-1930. This example is blast white, with a full strike, and very nice surfaces providing excellent eye appeal.
View Coin   United States 1C 1905 NGC MS 67 RD At the onset of the 20th Century the penny of the day was the Indian Head cent. As with most of the 20th Century types finding an example is not difficult, the issue is in finding Gem quality examples with original red color. This example boasts beautiful vivid reddish rose, with faint blushes of iridescent light blue, great color along with exceptional strike provide for great eye appeal on this super gem Indian head cent. Graded MS67 RD it is a top pop coin.
View Coin   United States $5 1902 NGC PF 62 CAMEO The Liberty Head Half Eagle, the Half Eagle at the onset of the 20th Century had the same design as the Quarter Eagle but was produced in significantly larger quantities. Finding an example is not difficult even in uncirculated grades. I have chosen a Proof issue for my representation of this type. They were in fact produced in tiny quantities and are very scarce. The 1902 example here comes from a mintage of just 162, this coin has very nice eye appeal for the grade. Nice cameo contrast, great mirrors, and just enough hairlines to lower grade to 62 thus making it more affordable for me. It is my only Proof classic gold coin.
View Coin   United States $1 1902 NGC PF 64 Probably the single most popular classic coin to collect would be the ever-popular Morgan Dollar, and as we moved into the 20th century the Morgan Dollar was our Dollar coin of the day. I have selected Proof example of this issue, and with the tiny mintages (1902 had a mintage of just 777) and huge demand these can get quite pricey. This example is gorgeous, if not for a contact mark on the cheek this coin could easily be a 66. Too bad, except without that contact mark the price at least doubles, so I will take it that way.
View Coin   United States $1 1799 NGC VF 20 1798-1804 Silver Dollars are The Draped Bust type with the Heraldic Eagle reverse. This early Silver Dollar has good remaining detail, nice even wear, problem free, with great eye appeal for the grade. It has CAC approval.
View Coin   United States $2.5 1904 NGC MS 67 The $2.50 Liberty Gold Quarter Eagle was the first Quarter Eagle of the 20th Century, with issue dates to 1907. Examples are easy to come by in grades up to MS65, above that they become more challenging. This example is one of the premier coins of this set for such a small coin, it has great surfaces, luster, color and strike. With the MS67 grade there are only a dozen or so with a higher grade.
View Coin   United States $20 1873 OPEN 3 NGC MS 62 'Affordable MS62 of the type 2 Lib. Double Eagle, this coin has nice color and luster, with a decent strike, but the obverse has the contact marks that lead to the 62 grade, note, the reverse looks like it could be a 65.
View Coin   United States $20 1908 NO MOTTO NGC MS 66 In 1907 after it was determined the High-Relief type of St-Gaudens had to many issues, the second version was produced in a low relief format. For the remainder of 1907 and into 1908 these were produced in large quantities without the “In God we trust” motto. Enough were saved that finding one is not difficult. The Gem plus example I have selected for the type has fantastic surfaces, plenty of luster, a full strike and just very nice eye appeal.
View Coin   United States $20 1904 NGC MS 65 The $20 Gold Double Eagles were minted in large quantities and are easy to come by in MS condition, however they become far scarcer in Gem grades and higher. This example is very nice perhaps under graded, it has exceptional surfaces especially for such a large business strike coin made of such a soft metal. Color and luster are great, the strike is solid. I intend to send this coin in for CAC evaluation at some point.
View Coin   United States $20 1923 D NGC MS 66 The very popular and final Double Eagle was minted from 1908 to 1933 in larger quantities than any other Gold Type. This coin has wonderful luster and great surfaces and color, unfortunately for an annoying copper spot on the obverse or this would be a fantastic coin. As it is it is probably the one coin currently in this set that I would most like to upgrade.
View Coin   United States $10 1901 S NGC MS 65 The $10 Liberty Gold Eagle was of the same design as the other gold coins of its day end ended production of the type in 1907. Like the Half Eagles but to a lesser extent, they were minted in large quantities and are not difficult to locate. This example for the type has an excellent strike, a nice yellowish gold color, plenty of luster, and surfaces free of any significant contact marks or spotting and as the grade would indicate is a PQ gem.
View Coin   United States 10C 1916 BARBER NGC MS 67 The dime at the onset of the 20th century was the Barber Dime, in production till mid-year of 1916. This example is full of Luster, blast white, with the only visible markings being natural die polish striations. It is graded MS67 and is another top pop issue.
View Coin   United States $1 1923 NGC MS 67 From 1922 to 1935, with a break from 1929 to 1934 the low relief version of the Peace Dollar was minted. It was produced in large quantities and finding one is not a challenge, however finding a really high end gem with great eye appeal makes things a little tougher.
This coin is as nice as any Peace Dollar I have ever seen, great strike, great luster and smooth abrasion free surfaces on a nice white coin. A die break is evident from the G in God to the neck and only serves to make the coin more interesting.
View Coin   United States 25C 1897 NGC PF 66 ULTRA CAMEO Hands down my personal fav so far, great mirrors, awesome cameo contrast, and nearly perfect surfaces, in my opinion under graded.
View Coin   United States 25C 1917 TYPE 1 NGC MS 67 FH As part of the Roosevelt initiated coin renaissance, the second quarter of the century beginning in 1916 is the Standing Liberty Quarter. The initial type, minted for just part of the first 2 years featured liberty with bare breast, changed to coverage with a coat of chainmail beginning during 1917. This example is a "wow" coin, has the look of having just coming of the mints, it has a nice original blast white color, almost no toning, great strike, amazingly blemish free surfaces, and loads of luster.
View Coin   United States 25C 1911 NGC PF 67 CAMEO Like Barber Dimes and Half Dollars, Barber Quarters were the Quarter of the day at the start of the 20th Century. My Barber Quarter representative is a Proof issue, it has nice contrast with great mirrors, nicely frosted devices, excellent surfaces and just beautiful eye appeal earning a PF67 Cameo grade.
View Coin   United States 25C 1898 NGC PF 67 CAMEO From 1892-1916 the "Barber Quarter" was the Quarter used, these like the contemporary Dime and Half Dollar seem to have been workhorses as most all remaining grade G4 or below. This Proof example displays incredibly deep mirrors, and exhibits great originality, with no visible hairlines, a remarkable coin.
View Coin   United States $20 1907 HIGH RELIEF WIRE RIM NGC AU 55 The High Relief Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle is a personal favorite of mine and many others. The already attractive design with the high relief has great eye appeal, that along with the fact it was minted for just 1 year with a total mintage of just 12,867 make it a very desirable coin. It is the scarcest of all 20th Century Types. This AU55 example with CAC approval has great surfaces, luster, and color.
