Medal, Plaquette, 1940 (Awarded 1960), Bronze, Belgium. WQOMAN IN KITCHEN, by Fernand Dubois (1869-1952). art nouveau bronze plaquette from friends to R. WERRION in retirement. Obv. Woman Standing, arms up extended, looking left at rectangle object held high above shoulders, in front of window and sink with two shelves and bottles and bowls, door to right with table and stool, tiny medallist signature at bottom right; Rv. 7 Line inscription: "Amicale Des Pensions, Vriendenkring Der Pensioenen Salon 1960, R. WERRION". Size: 59mm x 45mm. Attractive. The Belgian born Émile Fernand-Dubois (1869–1952) was a sculptor and medallist. He was well known for his bust of Marianne, the original of which can be found in the museum at Cosne-sur-Loire in the Nièvre region which also holds many casts of his works. The Marianne bust was replicated many times and examples can be seen throughout France, normally in pride of place in the "mairie". Purchased in Belgium.
