Full male figure, nude with flowing loin-cloth, outspread arms and legs, on top of and astride pillars; under r. foot 1833, under l. foot 1933; under r. hand, vertical Research, © to lower l., leaves above hand; under l. hand, vertical Industry, below is microscopic E R Z, above hand is small graph; Rev. Relief map of Exposition grounds and lake, above is directional N arrow, to l. is small vertical Zettler (designer)--all within large center circle; outside around A - Century - of - Progress - International - Exposition - Chicago - 1933 - More info: Artist obtained design patent D90,162 for his medallic design June 20, 1933. Dies were produced by Medallic Art Co. in New York City, but contract to strike the medals was awarded to Crowe, a metalworking firm in Chicago. Issued in 2 3/4 in., 2 1/4 in., and 1 1/2 in. sizes; This medal is the 2 1/4 inch example. On obverse, male figure is symbol of energy and action; represents intellectual arch between man's resources and man's work; words "Research" and "Industry" Fair's Theme. From the Collection of Alfred Stagg. (This is a larger version of the so called dollar HK-463).

Medal, Plaquette, 1937, Bz, France. AGRICULTURE by Pierre-Alexandre Morlon (1878-1951). This awarded to Representative Louvel in 1946. Includes original Box. This medal is known in 3 reverse varieties. Obverses are identical and Ceres, goddess of agriculture, holding ears of corn in his left hand. Note that Ceres is much like the " Republic " that he had done in 1930 and then appeared on coins 1franc, 2 francs and 50 centimes. The Reverses of the first two: This plaquette is reverse 1. Poultry "and" Maturing " are compartmentalized and have duck, pigeon, rooster and hen, goose, rabbit and turkey; Rv 2 has rearing of animals (cow, horse, bull, sheep and pig) to the other. TRv. 3 is known as " Ploughing " and contains two scenes symbolizing the work of the land: a farmer plowing his field with a plow pulled by two oxen in front of a rising sun (similar to the sower of Roty) and, under below, a combine pulled by two horses. Central inscription, "Offert par J.M. LOUVEL, Deptute du Calvados (Government Representative). Louvel served in 1946, just after the war. Calvados County-Normandy. deputy 1945-1958, Senator 1959-1970. In 1930, France was still a predominantly rural country. Agricultural competition then punctuates the life of the country, rewarding the best agricultural products and animals presented as machinery and rewarding knowledge of farmers as well. Cathedral and Town Center Buildings, Bridge and River in front, Woman in Dress looking over scene, open sketch book on block wall with Woman holding Pencil or Charcoal, Tree with winding branches above and behind female. Paris at left bottom. Very Attractive, and scarce subject matter as at this time, men were usually depicted drawing, and not woman. Size: 71mm x 56mm. Weight: 101.2 Grams. Beautifully executed original striking with sharp details. Purchased in France.

Medal, Plaquette, 1880-1890, Bronze, Uniface, France. RARE. "FRANZ" DUKE OF REICHSTADT ON HIS DEATHBED - NAPOLEON II (1811-1832) by Charles Theodore Perron and Johann Ender. Napoléon François Charles Joseph Bonaparte (20 March 1811 – 22 July 1832), Prince Imperial, King of Rome, Prince of Parma, of Placentia, and of Guastalla, known as Franz, Duke of Reichstadt from 1818 onward, was the son of Napoleon I, Emperor of the French, and his second wife, Archduchess Marie Louise of Austria. Succession rights: As the eldest legitimate son of Napoleon I, he was already constitutionally the Prince Imperial and heir apparent, but the Emperor also gave his son the style of His Majesty the King of Rome. Three years later, the First French Empire, to which he was the heir, collapsed. Obv. Duke in Uniform with Medals, on Deathbed. Medallists Signatures bottom, and foundry impressed stamp top right for Fabrication Francais, E Jullien Rue Pasquier Paris 12. This foundry was active between 1880-1900 and finally the original painter of the Napoleon II deathbed portrait was Johann Nepomuk Ender in 1832, see 'Ender Pinx' at the plaques's bottom left. The design of this plaquette is also similar to an engraving by Franz Xaver Stober, which shows the Duke on his deathbed. In 1832, the Duke caught pneumonia and was bedridden for several months. His poor health eventually overtook him and on July 22, 1832, Napoleon II died of tuberculosis at Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna. Rare and beautifully patinated original example. Size: 105mm x 75mm. Weight: 136 Grams.

Died or Disappeared Trying to Evade the Nazi's in 1944/1945. Obv. Center tablet with Female sitting, trees and outdoors scene around, branch with leaves above, curved top with legend Chambre Syndicale Des Entrepreneurs de Maconnerie Ciments et Beton Arme. Left and right leaves with alternating banner legends, De Laville de Paris, , et du, Departide la Seine, signature of medallist at bottom (Baudichon); Rv. Brance with leaves and berries to left, no inscription. Scarce and Attractive. René Baudichon was a French sculptor and medallist. The artist was born in Tours, France, studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in his native town, and graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Born: 1878, France. Died: 1963
