Portrait of Prudhomme facing left, SULLY PRUDHOMME at bottom; Rv. 14 line inscription honoring him, date 1881-1906 at bottom, Tree Design to left of inscriptions. Size: 59mm x 72mm. René François Armand "Sully" Prudhomme was a French poet and essayist, and was the first ever winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, in 1901. Medallist: Jules-Clément Chaplain (12 July 1839 – 13 July 1909) was a French sculptor and one of its finest medallists. With Louis Oscar Roty (1846–1911) he helped found the Art Nouveau movement. Purchased from Hedley Betts.
