The third medal in the series depicts General Winfield Scott and a scene of Lafayette’s welcome at Castle Clinton (now Castle Clinton National Monument) in 1824 on the reverse. Castle Clinton National Monument, at the Battery, was the last of a series of forts, which from the time of the Dutch settlement in 1624, guarded lower Manhattan. It was the headquarters of the United States Army, under General Winfield Scott, during the War of 1812. Mintage 5000.
