Medal, Plaquette, c.1867-1892, Silvered Bz?, Uniface, Germany. KARL THEODOR KORNER, German Poet and Soldier Napoleonic Wars, born 1791 in Dresden, Germany, Died 1813 in Gadebusch, Germany. Obv. Facing Portrait with Mustache and Sideburns, in Uniform, TH. Korner below, Medallist/Maker: M&W ST in tiny letters at left of plaquette. M&W stood for Wilhelm Mayer (born 1840) and Frantz Wilhelm (born 1846), a German Die Sinking establishment founded in 1860 who produced this medal between 1867 and 1892. Wilhelm Mayer was a sculptor and engraver. The firm changed the name of the company to Wilhelm Mayer Metallwaren Fabrik in 1896. Size: 2+" x 1.5+". Rare Medal.
