Medal, Plaquette, 1990, Bronze, Austria/Israel. Commemoration medal, DAVID SCHWARZ, Plaque by Alex Shagin, Bezalel. David Schwarz was a Hungarian-Croatian aviation pioneer of Jewish descent. His daughter was the opera and operetta soprano Vera Schwarz (1888-1964). The rights to the invention of a derigable were purchased by Hindenburg, but the derigable was actually invented by David Schwartz. Diameter: 70 x 70 mm / 340 grams. Obverse: Bust of Schwarz, text to left "David Schwarz, inventor", signed top right corner (SH 90), dates 1845-1897; Reverse: An early airship Dirigable (rigid airship) designed by Schwarz. Attractive Design and Execution. Less than 200 actually made. Purchased from a collector in Tel Aviv, Israel.
