Medal, Plaquette, 1911, Bronze, France/Switzerland. HENRI DOR, PHYSICIAN/OPT. (on his 76th Birthday), Medal by JP Aube. Size: 59mm x 80mm. Dr Henri Dor, Aged 76, 1911, a bronze plaque by J.-P. Aubé, bust left, reverse standing female representing Science, pushing back dark clouds and holding a chair on which a boy is seated, 80 x 59mm (BDM VII, 31). Rare. Medals by Aube are seldom encountered. Jean-Paul Aubé (1837-1918), sculptor from Lyons; his medallic work is very infrequently met with. Dr Henri Dor, ophtalmologist and honorary professor at Berne University. Medal purchased at the Chicago ANA World Fair of Money Show, August 2014.
