Medal, Plaquette, 1914, Bronze, France. WAR PRISONER WWI MEDAL, by Max BLONDAT & J.L. FORAIN. Signed : " FORAIN ~~ Max Blondat d'apres Forain ". Obv. War Prisoner Writing Letter, Rv. Inscriptions in 8 Lines. Engraver : Max BLONDAT (1872-1925) very famous French sculptor and medallist emblematic of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods pupil of Mathurin Moreau. Jean- Louis FORAIN (1852-1931) very famous French painter, sculptor and burner, pupil of Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, Andre Gill and Jean-Leon Gerôme. Dimensions : 70 mm x 42 mm = 2,80 inches x 1,68 inch. Weight (gr) : 92 grs. Edge : engraving " BRONZE " and the hallmark " Cornucopia ( Horn of Plenty Paris Mint ) ". RARE. Purchased at the Chicago ANA World of Money Show, August 2014.
