Medal, Plaquette, 1920, Bronze, Austria. DANUBE REGION FLOODS REMEMBRANCE PLAQUETTE, GRIM REAPER, by Josef Prinz. Josef Prinz (1876-1960) was an Austrian artist. Uniface Plaquette. Size: 3 1/8" x 1 1/2". Weight: 77.14 Grams. Issued after World War I in Vienna in remembrance of the 1920 Danube Region floods. Inscription: DER TOD ALS SCHNITTER - roughly, Death as the Grim Reaper (German), "Every grain laying at the ground is an immortal soul, so they are walking among a sea of souls.". Purchased from Renne Shomaker.
