Medal, Plaquette, 1927, Bronze, France. FOOTBALL CHALLENGE "Souvenir Award Medal" by Jean-Marie Delpech. Art Nouveau Award or Commemoration Medal. Obv. 7 Football Players running, ball in motion, trees in background, J. Delpech signed at right bottom, "Souvenir" in fancy old script at top center with rounded top curve; Rv. 12 Football Players, ball in air, trees. Top inscriptions: Coupe (Challenge) Jules Morel, 1927, signed bottom left. Size: 57mm x 48mm. Weight: 76.5 Grams. Edge: Triangle Hallmark and Bronze. Ref: Eng1134. Medallist: Delpech was born in 1888 in Banios (Haute-Pyrenees), France. He was a pupil of Thomas, Chaplain, and Alphee Dubois. He won numerous awardd, 2nd prize De Rome; and medals from Salon Des Beauz-Arts of Paris. Very Attractive in both Design and Script. Purchased in France. Rare.
