Medal, Plaquette, 1925-26, Bronze, France. L'ECHO DE PARIS (Tennis Award Medal) by Marcel Prosper Lordonnois. Obv. Tennis court with 2 players, trees in background, signed by M. Lordonnois at bottom right; Rv. 1925 1926 at rounded top of medal, Tennis Racquets at each side of dates, below "L'Echho De Paris", Laurel Branch, inscription at center left, Tournois De Tennis De L'Echo De Paris - Prix., signed bottom left, "A. Chobillon, Edit. and bottom right, another signature of Medallist M. Lordonnoies. Size: 50mm x 38mm. Edge: "Triangle Hallmark and Bronze". Ref: Eng998. Lordonnois was born in Paris, was a sculptor and medallist, and studied at Mouchon (stamp engraver) and F. Vernon (Designer of many of the Olympic Medals used in 1900). Most of his works involved Politics, Deities, and Governors, but he is also known for his work on the U.S. Doughboy medal and had a connection with the U.S. from some of his relatives who moved there prior to WWI. He exhibited in Paris in the following years: 1896, 1898, 1902/3/4 and 1906. Attractive. Purchased in France.
