Medal, Plaquette, 1902, Bronze, United States. TURNER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY CONCRETE AND STEEL, Original and Vintage, with original business address on plaquette, 11 Broadway, New York. Size: 3" x 6". Obv. Turner Construction Co. Concrete-Steel, 11 Broadway, New York, Rv. Blank. In 2002, a similar medal incorporating most of this design was fabricated by Tiffany & Co., it is the same size, but has a reverse with the founding date, 1902, and the 100th anniversary date, 2002. There are also differences in the type and length of the lettering on the original obverse and on the Tiffany example. Rare and Historic. Info on Turner: Turner Construction Company was founded in New York City in 1902 by Henry Chandlee Turner, a civil engineering graduate of Philadelphia’s Swarthmore College who brought a patented concrete reinforcing technique to the New York market. Today, Turner Construction Company is one of the largest construction management companies in the United States, with a construction volume of $9 billion in 2012. It is a subsidiary of the German company Hochtief.
