Medal, Plaquette, 1901, Silver, Republic of France, GARE de LYON RAILWAY STATION INAUGURATION Plaquette by Oscar Roty. Issued to commemorate the inauguration of the new Paris-Gare de Lyon railway station. The obverse of the plaque depicts three allegorical female figures and a winged genius before Gare de Lyon station. It's reverse design features the new station building with legend above (General Meeting of Shareholders) and architects's name at right edge. Marked Silver (Argent) on edge. Designed by Art Nouveau medallist Oscar Roty (1846-1911). Struck in .900 Silver. It measures 59mm x 45mm and weighs 63.22 grams (2.03oz). Rare is Silver.
