Owner Comments:

Medal Coin "Box", 1892, BR, WORLD'S COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION COLUMBUS BRASS COIN "BOX", with Hinged Lid, Eglit-132A. Obverse of HK-237E (Rarity-7). Not Encapsulated. Designed to look like a stack of fifteen reeded edge coins, the hinged top opens to reveal a hollow container that originally contained Exposition medals, Eglit-118 to 131, et seq. These are rarely found in as nice condition as this one, with working, hinged lid. Cf. Goldberg Auction 75, Lot 1922, which realized $265.00 for a ten reeded edge size "Box", this example being even more rare. From the Don Niemi Collection of World's Columbian Exposition Medals and So Called Dollars.
