Owner Comments:

Authorized by act of Congress, the Liberty Series is one of my favorite sets within National Commemorative Medals to collect. They are affordable in better grades despite the relatively low mintages. All medals in the series depict the Statue of Liberty on the obverse and funds derived from their sale to the public were to be used by the National Park Service for the restoration and completion of three National Historic Shrines. Originally a three medal series, the first medal depicts The Federal Hall National Memorial on the reverse. Federal Hall National Memorial on Wall Street, was the site of America’s first Capitol. Here on April 30, 1789, George Washington was inaugurated as the Nation’s first President, the government of the United States under the Constitution was established, and Congress adopted the Bill of Rights. Mintage 5000. Many of the comments from this series is taken from an original order form.
