St. Mary’s Hall was originally built as a meeting and banqueting place for three of the city guilds, St. John the Baptist, Holy Trinity, and St. Katherine’s. The hall was built between 1340 and 1342. For a time it served as the city’s armory and as its treasury. St. Mary’s Hall is a Grade I listed building.
One of Peter Kempson's series of 47 pieces featuring 19 Coventry buildings made for collectors. Peter Kempson also married each of the 19 obverse tokens with a reverse featuring the bust of George Frederick Handel using the obverse die of a private token made for J. Hardingham.
