Owner Comments:
Half Cent of the Netherlands East Indies and West Indies, today known mostly as Indonesia. Governed out of Batavia, now known as Jakarta under Queen Wilhelmina I. There is also a full cent that looks the same but is bigger. I have a very messed-up example of that coin and cannot find any others. Struck in Utrecht with a mintage of 10,000,000
Obverse:
"NEDERLANDSCH INDIE" Dutch Shield separating date "1916"

Legends in various Indonesian languages

2.3 grams, 17.0 mm.
Composition: Bronze

This coin is tied with two others at NGC as the best examples graded. PCGS has graded none as "Red" or in MS65. NGC has graded one RB in MS66, but, you can't beat a pure bright red copper coin with some reddish brown one. I have one of these we found raw on Ebay that NGC graded MS64 RB. It just isn't nearly as easy to look at as this bright red coin.
