JNDA 02-13. The aluminum 1 yen made its debut in S30 (1955) and has been minted ever since. The obverse has the government authority legend (Nippon koku/'Country of Japan' equivalent) above a young tree/sapling and the denomination below. The reverse features the numeral '1', with the regnal date spelled out below.
Annual mintages range from under a million to over a billion.
