JNDA 01-11. The yen denomination was revived after a long hiatus (last minted in T3/1914 as a large silver coin) now significantly debased as a brass issue. The coin was minted for three years, S23-S25 (1948-1950). The legend above the central denomination is 'Nippon koku' or 'Country of Japan', representing the new constitution and government. This is also the first coin (along with the 5 yen minted in 1948) where the regnal year dating legend is now read left to right.
Diameter 20 mm, brass, weight 3.20 grams.
