Owner Comments:

Here is a token that probably deserves a revered space in the catalog of Pan American Expo tokens! This is one of three different tokens that are known from the Indian Congress Restaurant. My thought is that like the Venice in America tokens, these were certainly used at the Pan. But I cannot confirm much about these enigmatic pieces yet. I am sure they are authentic "Good For" tokens from the early 1900s and would like to get proof of the attribution to the Pan Am Expo. The "Indian Congress" traveled to other locations including a version of the "Indian Congress Restaurant" at the 1904 St. Louis Fair (please see photo).

This is the "Good For 10 [cents] In Merchandise" struck in aluminum. I purchased this on ebay at a robust starting bid and it is original and pretty crusty as you can see. I know of at least one other specimen and that one is cancelled with the sideways "S" punch. This would appear to be in the R7 range or maybe R8.
