In 1938, anti Jewish sentiment was such that businesses were simply taken from them, licenses cancelled, beatings were common. the Nazis controlled the town in 1944, and systematically arrested all Jews, and they were sent to the ghetto at Kecskemet. All were then transported to Auschwitz and killed, with the exception of approximately 150 men taken to forced labor camp, and these survived the war, and returned to the town renewing life there in 1946.
