Medal, Plaquette, 1908, Bronze, France. GALLIA WITH CHILD by Andre Massoulle. Struck by Desaide Art Shop, Paris. Bronze; 67 X 50mm. Obverse: Full-figured Gallia with her child standing below her outstretched arm with shield. Reverse: Ornate cartouche with rooster with one claw on ball "France"; "March 29, 1908 Awarded from his Friends Mr. Ernest Levesque". Toned even dark brown. Condition: About Uncirculated. Bosco Description: A. Massoule. Obverse: Seated goddess with sword, holding a large shield over a reading youth. Reverse:1/2-wreath, rooster and an orb labeled FRANCE. Andre Paul Arthur Massoulle, 1851-1901, was primarily a sculptor. Many of his statues show figures with swords.
