View Coin Variety: Light Motto United States Washington Quarter Silver 1932-1964 25C 1934 LIGHT MOTTO Light Motto Washington Quarter NGC MS 62 The first variety quarter I was able to find at a reasonable price.
View Coin Variety: Medium Motto United States Washington Quarter Silver 1932-1964 25C 1934 MEDIUM MOTTO Medium Motto Washington Quarter NGC MS 62 Another wonderful variant for the collection. Since the 25C 1934 LIGHT MOTTO is also graded at MS 62, I guess this means that my future NGC 25C 1934 HEAVY MOTTO also should be MS62 to make it a complete set. Is there even a MS62 HEAVY MOTTO currently graded at this time? Yes there are but only having 3 in the census will make it a lot harder.
View Coin Double Die Obverse FS-102 United States 25C 1941 DDO FS-102 NGC AU 55 1st Double Die variety of a silver coin and a 1941 to boot!
View Coin Minor Curved Clip @ 2:00 United States Washington Quarter Silver 1932-1964 25C 1948 MINOR CURVED CLIP @2:00 NGC MINT ERROR MS 64 First error that isn't a Statehood Quarter. Also happens to be the oldest error and not variety of the set! Not a bad deal for $15 and a silver coin too.
View Coin I wonder how many Type B Reverse coins were slabbed without the variety recognition. United States 25C 1961 TYPE B REV NGC XF 45 $17.35

More than double market value, but with the cost of slabbing, variation attribution, and shipping a fair price.
View Coin Struck on A Thin Planchet (5.3 g) 25C 1962 STRUCK ON A THIN PLANCHET (5.3 g) NGC MINT ERROR AU 58 $28.00

I wonder how this traveled through circulation. Did people think it was counterfeit because it felt different, or was how the initial collector figured out it might be an error?
View Coin Curved Clip United States Washington Quarter Silver 1932-1964 25C 1962 D 5% CURVED CLIP NGC MINT ERROR AU 55 A big year in our history with the whole Cuban Missile Crisis. To think of what the previous owner of this coin must have been thinking during that time really makes you thankful for what we have. Maybe I'll try and get one error for every year of the Washington Quarter as well as an error for every state.
View Coin Another coin that suffered the fate of the past when cleaning coins was the "cool" thing to do. Nice clip size takes off the words In, and the tr in trust. 25C 1964 D 10% CURVED CLIP NGC MINT ERROR AU Details Another coin that suffered the fate of the past when cleaning coins was the "cool" thing to do. Nice clip size takes off the words In, and the tr in trust.
View Coin Struck 5% Off Center United States Washington Quarter Clad 1965-1998 25C 1965 STRUCK 5% OFF CENTER NGC MINT ERROR AU 58 This is an example of the first year that the George Washington Quarter was produced without its 90% silver content. While my error collection slowly grows, it appears that there are a wide variety of 5% off center examples out there to be found!
View Coin Struck on 5C Planchet United States 25C 1971 D PCGS AU 58 This was an eBay pickup many years ago before NGC allowed the upload of PCGS coins to the registry.

Sadly, you can't search for errors by PCGS and need to have normal information. That is why it is shown in description as a 1971-D quarter despite the fact it was struck on a 5c planchet.
View Coin First Washington Quarter with a George Washington Label. 25C 1972 D REVERSE STRUCK THRU NGC MINT ERROR MS 66 Newer slabbed or at least during the time of custom labels.
View Coin Struck 5% Off Center United States Washington Quarter Clad 1965-1998 25C 1974 STRUCK 5% OFF CENTER NGC MINT ERROR MS 66 Another nice example of a 5% off center quarter and my first 1970's example. The previous owner or owners must have stored with great care for it to still look this good. 1974 also happens to be the year that Richard Nixon imposed the 55 mph speed limit on January 2nd.
View Coin My first ever missing clad layer coin! United States 25C 1974 OBVERSE MISSING CLAD LAYER (4.6 g) NGC MINT ERROR AU 58 E-bay purchase. Beyond surprised to have been lucky enough to win the no reserve auction. Under $60 including shipping!
View Coin Partial Collar 25C 1977 PARTIAL COLLAR NGC MINT ERROR MS 64 Another partial collar for the collection.
View Coin 1978: Struck 15% Off Center Obverse Wheel Mark 25C 1978 STRUCK 15% OFF CENTER NGC MINT ERROR UNC Details Another eBay pickup.

1978 Struck 15% Off Center Mint Error UNC Details Obverse Wheel Mark. Not the first time I've found an error with the wheel mark designation. Too many times I guess they fall towards the end of the coin counter machines due to weight and get stuck with the suction cup ender.
View Coin Struck 5% Off Center 25C 1983 P STRUCK 5% OFF CENTER NGC MINT ERROR AU 58 1983 must have been a popular year for quarter errors, I'm starting to grow quite a few if you count pcgs and raw examples of errors.
View Coin Struck 5% Off Center (Obverse Wheel Marks) 25C 1983 P STRUCK 5% OFF CENTER NGC MINT ERROR UNC Details One of two 1983 P Struck 5% off center errors in the collection. This one has the details due to an obverse wheel mark, which are caused by the rubber wheel on coin counter machines. Makes sense that it would have gotten stuck as the coin is slightly off compared to its contemporaries.
View Coin Curved Clip 25C 1994 P 10% CURVED CLIP NGC MINT ERROR AU 55 The only down part of the curved clips is sometimes they shift in the slab. Luckily knock on wood, this one still has stayed. The clip is in the bottom and affects part of the date.
View Coin Obverse Struck Through United States Washington Quarter Clad 1965-1998 25C 1996 P OBVERSE STRUCK THRU NGC MINT ERROR AU 53 My first 1990's error that isn't a State Quarter. While I may not have found it way back in 1996, it is still a nice example of an error coin from childhood years. Still can't understand why one of the previous owners placed so many description labels upon it. Definitely don't understand the old $150 price tag on it. Yes it is a nice coin but the $11 and change price tag paid is a much better price!
View Coin E-bay purchase, always interested to compare various of center pieces. This is the third 1996 Quarter error that I have purchased. It is listed as the second one in this list of errors due to certification number. 25C 1996 P STRUCK 5% OFF CENTER NGC MINT ERROR MS 63 E-bay purchase, always interested to compare various of center pieces. This is the third 1996 Quarter error that I have purchased. It is listed as the second one in this list of errors due to certification number.
View Coin Struck 10% Off Center 25C 1996 P STRUCK 10% OFF CENTER NGC MINT ERROR MS 64 Struck 10% Off Center
View Coin Blank United States 1965-2014 25C WASHINGTON CLAD TYPE 2 PLANCHET NGC MINT ERROR Including my one and only PCGS New Hampshire error that I can't seem to get into this collection, this planchet error marks my 40th Quarter error. Meaning, it completes the second ngc brick! Still have several errors to send to NGC in the coming year, but what a fun adventure.

The beauty of a planchet error already graded is, you just don't know when it came about. Was this one of the first from 1965 that someone held onto for curiosity sake? Might it be a missing Delaware state quarter? The world will never know.
View Coin New Jersey Obverse and Reverse Struck Through United States State Quarter Program 1999 OBV 1999 P NEW JERSEY 25C AND REVERSE STRUCK THRU NGC MINT ERROR One of the few first year errors I have been able to locate in the first year of issue for the State Quarter Program. Just looking at it makes me wonder just what those men aboard the boats that fateful day must have thought. It was the first time in war that an attack was launched during Christmas.
View Coin Connecticut Partial Collar 25C 1999 P CT PARTIAL COLLAR NGC MINT ERROR MS 65 Partial Collar one of the older slab eras where there is the small square silver sticker on the back.
View Coin 1999 D Connecticut Curved Clip 5% 25C 1999 D CONNE CTICUT 5% CURVED CLIP NGC MINT ERROR AU 58 This was an eBay pick up many years ago. I don't have many clipped coins in the collection. This was part of the 50 State Quarter Series from the first year of issue.
View Coin Broadstruck 25C 1999 P GEORGIA BROADSTRUCK NGC MINT ERROR MS 66 Georgia Broadstruck nice luster.
View Coin Partial Collar MS 61 25C 2000 P MASSACHUSETTS PARTIAL COLLAR NGC MINT ERROR MS 61 One of these days, I hope to find a partial collar in circulation.

Massachusetts partial collar error.
View Coin Partial Collar MS 64 United States State Quarter Program 2000 25C 2000 P MA PARTIAL COLLAR NGC One of the more common errors for this coin, but a nice coin never the less. It was also the first error coin that I was able to purchase for under $10, "already graded". Massachusetts the home of fishing and Sox Nation.
View Coin Interesting error, looks as if something pushed part of the coin in upon itself. I like the fact, it is a double error indent + partial collar. 25C 2000 P NEW HAMPSHIRE PART.COLLAT W/OBV INDENT NGC MINT ERROR AU 58 1st Indent error. I wonder how an indent error occurs,

Interesting error, looks as if something pushed part of the coin in upon itself. I like the fact, it is a double error indent + partial collar.
View Coin Silver Proof Reverse Struck Through United States 25C 2000 S SILVER NEW HAMPSHIRE REVERSE STRUCK THRU NGC MINT ERROR PF 69 ULTRA CAMEO Silver Proof Reverse Struck Through.

I wonder how with the higher valued items errors still come about. I recently purchased off of eBay a mint set that had a error on the dime.
View Coin Partial Collar United States State Quarter Program 2000 25C 2000 P MARYLAND PARTIAL COLLAR NGC MINT ERROR MS 66 Another pretty common error for this particular piece. This was also the first Maryland error that I was able to procure for the set. E-bay is a wonderful tool isn't?
View Coin 5% Straight Clip only 5.4 Grams United States State Quarter Program 2000 25C 2000 P MARYLAND 5% STRAIGHT CLIP 5.4 GR NGC MINT ERROR MS 65 My very first clip error, and my second Maryland error. At times I still wonder just how errors like this are made. Was it the edge of a metal sheet that was struck wrong, or did the cutter cut at the wrong time?

Nice golden tone to it.
View Coin D - Improperly Annealed United States 25C 2000 D MARYLAND IMPROPERLY ANNEALED NGC MINT ERROR MS 64 eBay purchase 8/11/23:

Improperly Annealed planchet from Denver, a nice coppery tone type quality.
View Coin Partial Collar United States State Quarter Program 2000 25C 2000 P SC PARTIAL COLLAR NGC MINT ERROR MS 67 My highest grade for a partial collar error to date! (At least in my collection.) I wish that NGC listed errors in their census to help make it easier for error collectors to get a sense of what may be out there at least in regards to the graded examples. This is also the first South Carolina error out of the two in my collection.

View Coin Obverse and Reverse Struck Through United States State Quarter Program 2000 25C 2000 SOUTH CAROLINA OBV AND REV STRUCK THRU NGC MINT ERROR This is the second South Carolina error in my collection, and definitely an interesting piece. It is a little hard to see the image through the struck through part. It is like a frame that surrounds the actual image of bird and tree.
View Coin Broadstruck 25C 2000 P VIRGINIA BROADSTRUCK NGC MINT ERROR MS 64 Such a large broad struck that you would think it was a struck off center error.
View Coin Reverse Die Break @ 8:00 United States State Quarter Program 2001 25C 2001 P KENTUCKY REVERSE DIE BREAK @8:00 NGC MINT ERROR MS 63 This is my first Kentucky error but definitely not my last. The scene of a horse resting in a stable reminds me of times visiting the old county fair horseshows that I saw as a kid.
View Coin Reverse Die Break on Rim @ 8:30. Found in a cash register transaction. United States State Quarter Program 2001 (.750 Copper & .250 Nickel) 25C 2001 P KENTUCKY REVERSE DIE BREAK ON RIM @8:30 NGC MINT ERROR AU 55 My first quarter error that I found in circulation! On the weekends I work retail and my boss allows me to buy out the old coins at the end of my shift. A customer used this in payment and later that night it became part of my collection at the face price of .25c. It cost more to have it graded than to purchase. I am very happy though that it came back as an @8:30 as I already have an example graded @8:00!!!!! Not bad for the first error coin submitted but certainly not the last.
View Coin 5% Straight Clip 25C 2001 P KENTUCKY 5% STRAIGHT CLIP NGC MINT ERROR MS 65 3rd Kentucky Error this time it is a very small straight clip.
View Coin Struck 5% Off Center United States State Quarter Program 2001 25C 2001 P NO.CAROLINA STRUCK 5% OFF CENTER NGC MINT ERROR MS 66 This was the second error that I sent out on my last submission. Sadly, I didn't find this one in circulation. I bought it from a coin dealer that had previously ordered one of the 100 coin bags from the mint. The dealer had opened it in hopes of finding an error which he did then later sold it to me. Definitely a nice error and grade for a North Carolina quarter.
View Coin The Reverse Die is slightly misaligned. 25C 2001 D RHODE ISLAND MISALIGNED REVERSE DIE NGC MINT ERROR MS 64 Denver errors are a lot harder to come by than Philadelphia errors I have come to see.

2001 D Rhode Island Misaligned Reverse Die Mint Error MS 64.

My one and only Rhode Island error.
View Coin Partial Collar 25C 2002 D TENNESSEE PARTIAL COLLAR NGC MINT ERROR AU 55 This was initially bought raw off of eBay and submitted for encapsulation. I had shared with the seller my goal of getting one error for each of the state quarters and he wished me luck on the journey.
View Coin Waffle Cancelled United States State Quarter Program 2002 (.750 Copper, .250 Nickel) 25C 2002 INDIANA Waffle Cancelled WAFFLE CANCELLED NGC BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED Indiana the home of the Indianapolis 500 and a fine state quarter image. Curious though just how this error found itself waffled when I thought the waffling machines were brought in the following year in 2003. Maybe it is a test cancellation specimen that the mint used to see how the machine would work out for them. Either way I'm torn on the whole waffling process. Yes it does give new examples of errors, but it also destroys a whole lot of errors that could of otherwise gotten its way into happy collector's hands!
View Coin Waffle Cancelled United States State Quarter Program 2003 25C 2003 INDIANA MINT CANCELLED NGC BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED What could be better than an error coin? How about an error coin with an error label. The Indiana Quarter came out in 2002 but the waffling process made headlines in 2003. I have an Indiana Quarter now with labels from 2002 and 2003. This coin was part of a 5 coin waffle set. Still missing out on the Arkansas waffle.
View Coin Waffle Cancelled United States State Quarter Program 2003 25C 2003 ILLINOIS MINT CANCELLED NGC BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED Part of the 5 waffle coin $68 dollar package so now I have most of the waffle coins from 2003 except Arkansas. Still on the hunt though!
View Coin Partial Collar United States State Quarter Program 2003 25C 2003 P ILLINOIS PARTIAL COLLAR NGC MINT ERROR MS 66 Another partial collar error for the set. This is the first Illinois type error that I have come across in my search. Maybe one day I'll find an off center example.
View Coin Waffle Cancelled United States State Quarter Program 2003 25C 2003 ALABAMA MINT CANCELLED NGC BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED The Alabama waffle coin is one of the harder ones to come across. One more checked off the list next hopefully an Arkansas.
View Coin Waffle Cancelled United States State Quarter Program 2003 25C 2003 MISSOURI MINT CANCELLED NGC BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED My second Missouri waffle coin. Had to do it since it was part of a package deal to get the other waffles that I was missing.
View Coin Waffle Cancelled United States State Quarter Program 2003 25C 2003 P MISSOURI WAFFLED CANCELLED NGC This was the very first waffle coin that I added to my collection back in 2003. At the time I was excited to have one of the newest types of errors to hit the market. However, now I realize that it makes it that much harder to find an error which was not waffled. As of now I haven't found a true Missouri error that hasn't been waffled in ten years of searching!
View Coin Reverse Die Break @ 9:00 United States State Quarter Program 2006 25C 2006 P COLORADO REVERSE DIE BREAK @ 9:00 NGC MINT ERROR MS 66 Yet another one of the 9:00 die breaks to find its way into my collection. I wonder just how many of the Colorado, Oregon, and West Virginia 9:00 die breaks exist in the NGC census.
