OBV: Lily ; REV: BAΣIΛEΩΣ ANTIOXOY EYEΡΓETOY, with Seleucid anchor. The Lily (Shoshana שושנה in Hebrew), represents Jerusalem, which would become a main symbol of the Maccabee Dynasty. Note: This coin was minted by John Hyrcanus in the name of Antiochus VII after a treaty was signed between them in 131BCE granting Judea automony as a vassal state.

The coins of the infamous Roman governor, Pontius Pilate, reveal his determination to promote the Roman religion in Judaea. Unlike his predecessors, who avoided offending the Jewish people, Pilate deliberately offended Jewish sensibilities with the images on his coins.
