Ø "Skanderbeg" was lesser known as George Castriota, the national leader in 1443-68, before Albania was over run by the Turks.
Ø The dies for this coinage were engraved by Giuseppe Romagnoli of the mint in Rome where the first pieces were struck in 1926

- Both French and Flemish are official languages of Belgium so in 1914 half the coins were minted with French legends and half with Flemish legends.
- Before becoming King of Belgium at an age of 16, Albert was Count of Flanders. He ascended the throne on the death of his Uncle, Leopold II, 1909, due to the death of the intended heirs, Leopold’s son and nephew.
- King Albert died in a mountain climbing accident.

- Minted under the rule of Duchess Johanna and Duke Wenceslaus. (1355-1383)
- The Duchy of Brabant occupied the area of modern Belguim and the Southern Netherlands between rivers Maas and Scheldt. Brabant was a wealthy land due mainly to her cloth industry.
- The coin took its name from the bust of St. Peter on the obverse who was the patron saint of Louvain, where they were struck. The Pieter was struck starting in 1374 continuing without alteration until 1383.
- This coin was very popular and was imitated by the neighboring Prince-bishop of Liege, Jean d’Arckel (Reference Fr.281)
