2005 Mule $1 in a 2006 Proof set -
2005 PROOF MULE $1 in a 2006 proof set!

The RAM has not acknowledged this set as existing..

Undeniably a MULE as the 2005 $1 proof was not the mob of roos reverse..

This coin was a non existent design until struck. The 2005 proof dollar was not a mob of roos..

The famous 10c obverse mule gEF

10c obverse die creates a variable double rim. This one is "center struck" and rarer

Very popular, and quite scarce. Rare in high grade

2005 was possibly struck in a hurry.. -
Broadstruck, one of my favourite coins. This design was possibly struck in a hurry, this could be a consequence of the advertising for the mule in slot 1 ?

At the time it was true, no 2005 $1 Mob Of Roos existed, let alone a PROOF.. then some circulation coins soon showed up. So a 2005 Mint State mob of roos DID then exist. It too is somewhat of a rarity with low mintage.

Struck Through Oil and no date.

NGC must have verified the date, a very weak impression visible under (electron?) microscope ! Awesome work NGC !

Rabbit ears variety. EF high grade example and first year of issue

The ears on the top Kangaroo have a cud or die breakage..

This can often look very much like rabbit ears. Sometimes they dont look so great but are designated as Rabbit Ears by AU collectors.

Obverse planchet flaw -
Obverse planchet flaw

A cheap but nice error

The metal surface is not properly prepared and peels or "laminates" after striking.

Scalloped dollar from 2004 Masterpieces in Silver set. A pattern that was never released. A scalloped 50c error exists so this coin was special to me..

From the 2004 Masterpieces in Silver set -
Testing pattern. From the 2004 Masterpieces in Silver set.

A lovely test design..

The Royal Mint (UK) uses 7 sided designs. This test pattern pays homage to the old design, with the imperial lion. Awesome.
