Owner's Description
A nice natural brown color.
This is the color I prefer for older coppers. Reds scare me, because red today, tomorrow it is spotted, and months later who knows what. Most of my colonials were bought "raw" from eBay. This I believe is good and bad. The bad is that most of the eBay photos suck or do a poor job of showing what the coin actually looks like. As a result I would say a very high percentage of the raw coppers on eBay would never be slabbed by NGC or PCGS. In my case with a lot of studying of the coin's photos I average a 50% success rate. The funny part of this is when I resell the rejected coins on eBay with its rejection label I still get 60% to over 100% of what I paid for the coin originally.
The good part of all this is that most bidders know they have a high probabilty of getting a dog and the bids reflect that. So if you are careful in the long run you can come out ahead.
This coin cost me $190
