Owner's Description

Austria – State of Salsburg Paris, Graf von Lodron, 1619 - 1654 Half Thaler – 1628 GRADE AU-55 KM-141 Census - 5 graded by NGC - there are 3 with higher grades Issued for the Cathedral Dedication This has to be one of the (if not β€œthe”) most elaborate coins I own. Salzburg is a town on the Austro-Bavarian frontier which grew up around a monastery and bishopric that was founded circa 700. It was raised to the rank of archbishopric in 798. In 1803 Salzburg was secularized and given to an archduke of Austria. At the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Salzburg was returned to Austria, but without Rupertigau and Berchtesgaden, which passed to Bavaria. Salzburg was integrated into the Salzach province and Salzburgerland was ruled from Linz. In 1850, Salzburg's status was once more restored as the capital of the Duchy of Salzburg, a crownland of the Austrian Empire. The city became part of Austria-Hungary in 1866 as the capital of a crownland into the Austrian Empire. My cost was $341
