The augur was a priest and official in the classical world Hadrian, as was his predecessor Trajan, was born at Italica in Spain (AD 76). Hadrian’s father died when he was 10 following which he entered the childless household of Trajan and eventually married the daugther of Trajan’s favorite niece.
