Owner's Description
Binningen is a municipality in the district of Arlesheim in the canton of Basel in Switzerland. Various versions of the name Binningen appear in records dating from between the eleventh and fourteenth centuries, such as "Binnengin" and "Biningin". In 2004 the municipality was able to celebrate the thousand year anniversary of the first recorded use of the name Binningen, from a record dating back to 1004. The municipality banner is confirmed to be from the time period between 1292 and 1300. Back then, the banner was the family banner of the family "von Binningen" from Basel. This is the silver shooting medal prepared for the 1893 Shooting Festival held in Binningen Richter: 123a, Martin: 74, Krause: 38 Designer: Homberg 45mm Silver Mintage: 701 I consider my four larger Swiss Shooting Medals to be small works of art and to some degree master pieces. This particular medal is definitely my favorite. The depth of the strike is unbelieveable (I don’t know how they do this) and the detail must be seen. Census – NGC does not provide population info on items such as this.
