Owner's Description
France, Benjamin Franklin/Baron de Montyon Medal, 1833. Bronze. 41.4 mm. Produced by the Franklin and Montyon Society for the promotion and benefactors of humanity. The obverse shows conjoined busts of Franklin & Montyon, beside Franklin is 'A benefactor of genius' & by Montyon 'Genius of being a benefactor'. The reverse presents seven lines inscription regarding the Society of Montyon & Franklin to propagate the history of benefactors of the human race. Montyon was a politician & philanthropist who gave large amounts of money to the poor and to established a series of prizes awarded by the French Academy. By Barre. Franklin is someone I admire greatly thus my interest in this piece. Census – NGC does not provide population info on items such as this. My cost for this piece was $108
