MEDAL APPEARANCE/CONDITION: Proof Strike -- Gold-Overlay/Silver Variety *A Near Flawless Example w/ Remarkable Eye-Appeal; Hairlines, Let Alone Contact Marks Are Near Non-Existent -- Deep Mirrored Ultra-Cameo Fields Illuminate The Strong, Well Struck and Sharply Detailed Devices Brilliantly; A Truly Exquisite Piece -- Design Matches Its Copper-Alloy/Gold-Overlay And Silver/Antiqued Copper-Alloy Bimetallic Counterparts In Its Set* MEDAL BACKGROUND: "The piece recognizes bison (buffaloes) as a part of Colorado history, as well as the state's capital, Denver. -- Included in a set; this being one of three bimetallic proof varieties. Overall, two proof sets of various compositions are known, each containing three medals equaling six different varieties. Piece is of unknown origin. Research has yielded no results and designer/engraver initials are not present anywhere on the medal. If any information regarding this piece is known, I would be grateful if you reached out."
