Set Category: Token & Medals

Set Name: The J. Perry Collection of Colorado Coins and Exonumia

Set Description: This wide-array of coins and exonumia is intended to give an unprecedented look into the history of my native state and current home, Colorado, through the eyes of numismatics. From events, celebrations, landmarks and renowned people to anniversaries, commemorations, stores and saloons; all are common themes among these specimens which paint a colorful picture of the "Centennial State." This collection consists of and includes nearly every genre in numismatics to give a broader yet concise description of their importance in Colorado history. United States federal issues, tokens, medals, so-called dollars, so-called half-dollars, historic silver art bars and various event-related memorabilia all make up this specific, yet wildly diverse, collection. From rare to common and pristine to circulated/worn, all are equally important in creating a lively historic image of not just my beautiful home sate, but to also show my fascination, passion and love for the uniqueness and intimacy of collecting numismatic items, as a whole. Some pieces are noted strictly for their undeniable beauty, others for their historic significance and many for their rarity in Colorado numismatics; however, all play a meaningful role in capturing a snap-shot of the particular world I have set out to attain. DESIGN DESCRIPTIONS ARE LISTED IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER: 1.) Federal Issues (Chronological Order) 2.) So-Called Half-Dollars (Chronological Order) 3.) So-Called Dollars (Chronological Order by HK Catalog Number) 4.) Medals: (Chronological Order) - Sub-Category Order for Same/Related Types: (Ordered by Grade and/or Pedigree) 5.) Tokens (Alphabetized by Pritchard Catalog Number and City/Town of Origin) 6.) Memorabilia (Included as Event-Specific and Listed in Front of the Coins/Medals/Tokens that Correspond with the Event) **If doubles are included within this set, please read the description for that particular piece as to why because this will only occur for one or more of the following reasons: higher grade; better eye-appeal and/or corresponds to a particular piece via its pedigree.**

Set Goals: To obtain any numismatic specimen minted in and/or having "any" association with the state of Colorado. Further, to teach people about Colorado's rich history through the tool of numismatic education. (Although intended to be posted by the end of 2016, it has been extremely difficult processing the nearly 100 new certified Colorado specimens I have obtained. I acquired the majority in July of 2016; however, with the high and strict standards I have for presenting them, it has taken much longer than anticipated. Within the past month, I have put in roughly 20 hours photographing, editing and cropping all of the coins, tokens and medals. With a full-time job and many other engagements in my life, finding large amounts of time to work can be a challenge. I am now currently in the process of researching various issues and writing descriptions. Once this phase has been completed, I will finally be able to update this set and display my newly acquired specimens. I am eager and excited to share them with the world, as there are a number of interesting, unique, beautiful and extremely scarce issues.) The new examples mentioned above were unfortunately not able to be posted in time for the NGC Registry Awards cut-off on November 1, 2016.
