Die HISTORICAL TOWN/CITY DESCRIPTION: (PARKVILLE, CO) "Even though Parkville wasn't as famous as its neighbor, Teller City, it was still a major silver boom town with 800-1,000 residents. Silver was discovered prior to 1880; however, that is the official year a post office was located within the town. Not much additional history is recorded about the town yet it is a very interesting site to visit because many people are unfamiliar with its existence. There are scores of old foundations and well over a dozen walls of old cabins still standing. It was abandoned in 1884 when the price of silver dropped. Apprently there must have been a fire at once point because charred remains of several cabins can be seen." -- Jay Warburton
