SET DETAILS
Owner's Description
Issue #373 features the second appearance of Batgirl. One thing DC obsessed about and Marvel rarely mentioned, with the exception of maybe Spider-Man since he was still a kid, was the idea that Super--Heroes had secret identities and that keeping them secret was of paramount importance. But looking back 60 years, some of those those plots, which once again was the subject of the cover here, seem rather trivial.
This issue also once again illustrates the huge discrepancy of values between first and second appearances. A 9.6 of Barbara Gordon’s Batgirl’s first appearance in Issue #359 might set you back $50,000 or more, while this second appearance, which was also published in 1967, might cost you $1,000 or so, even though it is, in fact, rarer in grade than Issue #359.
Our 9.6 suffers from having Cr/OW pages. Which we generally try to about, but maybe because of that fact the price was right and it filled a slot, leaving us with just 8 books to go to complete this set. There are about four of those books currently available in the 9.2-9.4 range, but each is third highest graded, so for now we are waiting for better options.
We acquired our 9.6 in the May 2024 CL Auction.
