This brass five centavo coin was minted by the Philadelphia mint for circulation in the Republic of the Philippines. The obverse of this coins is reminiscent of the obverse design from the previous US/Philippine 5 Centavo series issued from 1903 through 1945. The reverse shows the shield for the Republic of the Philippines and that it was issued by the authority of the Central Bank of the Philippines.

This particular coin is a full "red" coin with very minimal scuffs and nicks in both the fields and devices. The coin is very well struck up. The MS66 grade is reasonable considering the overall marks, but I had hoped for something a little higher. I don't know why brass coins don't receive the same RD, RB, and BN designations as their copper cousins, since the both undergo that characteristic color transition. If they did though, this coin would garner a full RD suffix.
