THIS COIN: A pristine, near Gem example of this rare Trade Dollar issue. Sharply struck, fully frosted devices seem suspended on brilliant cartwheeled fields. Radiantly eye appealing.
BACKGROUND: Most of the 534,000 business strike production was shipped to China. Of this total, it is estimated that several thousand were melted at the Carson City Mint. The 1877-CC is scarce in all grades and quite rare in Mint State. Type II/II is the only known type.
