Owner Comments:

An economic downturn after the war gave rise to socialist movements around the world. In the Netherlands Pieter Jelles Troelstra tried to overthrow both the queen and the government by seeking to gain control of the House of Representatives through popular elections. Wilhelmina, desiring to take her case directly to the people, brought about a mass show of support by riding with her daughter among the people in an open carriage. The socialists attempt to remove the queen from the throne and take over the government failed.

This 1925 NGC MS-65 10 Gulden coin designed by J. C. Wienecke features yet another bust of Queen Wilhelmina, and is the fourth in the series. One point to notice that seems common with coins featuring this bust is a lower level of detail in Queen Wilhelmina’s hair just above her forehead. This coin has a mintage of 2,000,000.

I bought this sets original coin as a raw coin on May 20, 2009 and had it graded by NGC at MS-64. Since then there has not been an opportunity to upgrade this coin until February 3, 2013. On that day, I won an E-Bay auction for this set's current coin.
