The Holland 1796 Year Set With Other US Rarities

Category:  Series Sets
Last Modified:  11/24/2012
Set Description
This set is being put together because 1796 is the quintessential year for American rarities. We are also including some of the other early American rarities.

1796 was an very important year in American history. Incumbent president George Washington had refused to lead for a third term and the election of 1796 saw John Adams elected president of the fledgling United States. The coinage of the era was being minted at the 4 year old Philadelphia mint for circulation in the states. Robert Scot and John Eckstein designed most of the coinage that was circulating at the time. Their design with a classic looking liberty and a serpent looking eagle would make for one of the most beautiful and endearing series in American history!
The 1796 half cent has a meager mintage of 1,390 coins. The cent a mintage for both types of 473,200. The half dime 10,230. The dime has a mintage 22,135. The quarter a very small mintage of 6,146. The half dollar has a mintage of 3,918 pieces and the dollar 79,920. Our goal is to acquire a genuine no problem type example of each piece.
