Collectors' Society & F.U.N.

Set Description
"Collectors' Society" These special marked holders have been given away with new subscriptions to membership in NGC's Collectors Society. These holders have also been given away at special functions. Some call them SAMPLES.

This collection is not about the coins but an important part of NGCs history and the Collectors Society.

It is a very hard set to put together and has been a challenge and fun.

I think it represents true collecting as it has little dollar value. It provides a challenge to find some of these hard to find labels that are somewhat low production. Not many can acquire a full set and I hope to someday.


I am not sure how many diffrent ones there are. If you have any or know of any I do not have listed please let me know.

2003 they used a 2003-D State quarter set in the MS65 grade in a multi holder. (This has no year or designation of the Collectors Society, but is marked as Collectors' Society- Limited Edition)

2004 they used a 2004-P State quarter set in the MS65 grade in a multi holder. (This has no year or designation of the Collectors Society, but is marked as Collectors' Society- Limited Edition)

2005 there seems to have been 2 slabs. Both hold a 1994 Silver Eagle with the grade of MS68. The first has a designation of “Collectors' Society”. The second has a designation with the year. “2005 Collectors' Society”. Both are marked with NGC Collectors Society on the label.

2006 was mix of coins. First we have a 2006 Silver Eagle in the grade MS68 with a “2006 Collectors' Society” designation. Next we have ten Statehood quarters. COLORADO, MARYLAND, MASSACHUSETTS, NEBRASKA, NEVADA, NORTH DAKOTA, SOUTH DAKOTA, VIRGINIA, NEW HAMPSHIRE, SO.CAROLINA that are all marked with a “2006 Collectors' Society” designation. And all are S-Clad PF69 UC.

2007 So far I have found ten Statehood quarters VIRGINIA, CALIFORNIA, KANSAS, MINNESOTA, MARYLAND, MASSACHUSETTS, NEW HAMPSHIRE, SOUTH CAROLINA, WEST VIRGINIA, OREGON that are all marked with a “2007 Collectors' Society” designation. And all are S-Clad PF69 UC.

In 2007-2008 is a A 2007-D George Washington $1 Brilliant Un-circulated First Day of Issue see details. But it has no Collectors Society markings.

For the 2008 FUN show they have used a Washington Dollar that boast a Collectors' Society label. The label reads: 2008 FUN Show Registry & Message Board Member Reception. This slab has no grade assigned. Thanks to Mike (jgrinz) a member on the NGC forum. The first few of these where used to raise money for the Boy Scouts.
