Lovett's "Eight Battles Dollars"

Set Description
Issued by George H. Lovett of New York in 1876 to commemorate the Revolutionary War Battles of 1776. This is a COMPLETE Set of the Bronze medals from an original box set and a COMPLETE set of the White Metal medals as well. The Bronze medal set was housed in the original wood box of issue from 1876. The box is velvet lined with small brass hinges and clasps/hooks for closure/latching. These medals were also made in silver. The medals are very rare, and boxed sets are extremely rare. The silver sets originally sold for $14, the bronze sets sold for $4 and the white metal sets sold for $2. A very beautiful set with major historic significance!! Silver medals are all but impossible to locate with probably 10 or less originally struck! The bronze set is more available but still extremely rare!! Probably 50 sets of the Bronze medals were originally struck. Around 100 sets of the White Metal variety were probably struck. All are considered rare!

Goal to complete a bronze and white metal set, is complete and listed here. These are classified as So-Called Dollars. This is a COMPLETE Set of the Bronze Medals for this Series as well as a COMPLETE set of the White Metal medals. ALL Pictures Available. A great job of conserving by NCS and encasing by NGC will preserve these bronze medals for the next generation(s). NOTE: Many are Top Pop. I do include one silver one in my set below. Only 7 more silver ones to locate! Completing a set of all the silver pieces is basically impossible, with only 10 struck of each.
