| 1897 Inaugural Year of Cocina Economica Santiago (Reconcentraccion Token) |
Cuba Santiago April 25, 1897
TOKEN 1897-DATED CUBA
NGC UNC Details
This token is a relic of General Varleriano Weyler's reconcentraccion strategy to defeat the Cuban Liberation Army (CLA) by removing individuals in rural areas of Cuba, which often helped the CLA by providing food and shelter during the "Guerra Necessaria," which later turned into the Spanish-American War after US Intervention in 1898. General Weyler's policy caused wide spread starvation among the rural population and instituted a Cocina Economica in order to reduce the instances of starvation. This is basically a token Commemorating the inauguration of the first Concentration Camp on the Island which was opened on April 25, 1898.

| La Tropical Y Tivoli Beer/Ice Token |
Cuba Habana 1940's - 1950's
TOKEN (UNDATED) CUBA
NGC MS 64
La Tropical was founded in 1888 as "La Nueva Fabrica De Hielo," which began the development of Cuba's first beer. Research shows these tokens were minted in the 1940's or 1950's to purchase beer and ice products sold at the company. These coins also come holed, signaling the coin was used (I would not recommend grading them). La Tropical was reopened in 1998 in Miami, Florida, the owners have revived brewery's Cuban history. It is unknown how many of these beer tokens were minted, my guess is that many were minted but not many survive at the MS level.

Bronze BRONZE 1953 CUBA JOSE MARTI 100TH BIRTHDAY (76mm)
NGC MS 64 BN
This medal was struck the same year as the 1953 Comemmorative Set (1 centavo, 25 centavos, 50 centavos, and Peso) at the Philadelphia Mint. The observe depicts a slightly different vantage point than the observe on the 1953 Comemmorative Set bust. The reverse shows two large high relief reefs. In between the high relief reefs note the purpose the medal was minted, the anniversary of Jose Martin’s 100th birthday. There is an unknown number of these medals that were minted. Considering their size, the mintage has to be significantly less than the 1952 Comemmorative medal mintage of 5,000. These are difficult to find period, and even harder at MS-63 or above.
