Set Description
Coins from years that match memorable historical events in the Bahá'í Faith, founded in 1844 in Persia -- included are the lives of its Central Figures:
1) Bahá'u'lláh 2) the Báb 3) 'Abdu'l-Bahá
Also included: Shoghi Effendi, the Guardian of the Cause; Apostles & Hands of the Cause of God; the Universal House of Justice, presently the world administrators and Head of the Faith; and Institutions chartered to assist an ever-advancing civilization based on the reality and truth of one human family.
Plus, a few personal dates, like 1971 and 1972 when my mom and dad became this family's first Bahá'ís, as well as Mojgan's (my better three-fourths) family's five-generations of believers in God's latest message to humanity!

This is the final coin needed to complete this 1892 proof set, with confirmation about it's pickup coming today (27 Oct 2022), a day that Baha'is worldwide consider a Holy Day, celebrating the birth of Baha'u'llah (see our 1817 set for more info on that)!

* 1892 is the year Bahá’u’lláh passed away *
During 40 years of imprisonment and exile, Bahá'u'lláh brought to humanity the latest guidance from God. His shrine and surrounding gardens, located on the outskirts of Acre, Israel, were listed by UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2008 for their "profound spiritual meaning" -- see https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1220
The news of His ascension was instantly communicated to the Ottoman Empire's Sultan Abdu’l-Hamid in a telegram which began with the words “the Sun of Bahá has set”. The sacred remains were interred within the precincts of His residence in Bahji, just outside the city walls of 'Akka where He had arrived in 1868 as a prisoner. It is now the holiest place of pilgrimage for members of the Bahá'i Faith, and each day Bahá'is turn toward it in prayer.
For a full week after His passing, a vast number of mourners, rich and poor alike, tarried to grieve with the bereaved family, partaking day and night of the food that was dispensed by its members. Notables, among whom were Muslim Shi’ahs, Sunnis, Christians, Jews and Druzes, as well as poets, ulamas and government officials, all joined in lamenting the loss, and in magnifying the virtues and greatness of Bahá’u’lláh's life, character, and Revelation, many of them paying to Him their written tributes, in verse and in prose. Together, they all perfectly exemplifed Bahá’u’lláh's teaching of unity in diversity, that we all are one human family.
His eldest son, `Abdu’l-Bahá, wrote: "The world’s great Light, once resplendent upon all mankind, hath set, to shine everlastingly from the Abhá Horizon, His Kingdom of fadeless glory, shedding splendour upon His loved ones from on high and breathing into their hearts and souls the breath of eternal life."

For the first time in 55 years a new dime was introduced, with Mr Barber's design finally replacing the lovely Liberty Seated!
1892 saw the highest mintage for the series, reflecting the highest point of public and collector interest. Yet still there were only 1,245 proof dimes minted, and it is highly sought-after as a type coin due to its strong quality and excellent eye appeal.
This beautiful silver dime is very rare finer, with only six coins graded higher.

1st purchase ever from Mr Rick Snow, author and authority on Flying Eagle and Indian Head Cents, really nice to talk with him.
This set commemorates the ascension of Bahá’u’lláh as His earthly life ended this year. His eldest son 'Abdu'l-Bahá, known amongst Bahá'is as the Perfect Exemplar, was appointed the authorized Interpreter and successor in Bahá’u’lláh's written will -- it is the first time in religious history that a Messenger of God has left a written will in His own hand, clearly delineating where continued guidance would be for the development of human spirituality and unity.
In practical terms, the unity of this Faith was preserved -- there is only one Bahá'i Faith, not thousands of denominations or sects -- and thus it can, indeed, unite all humanity in peace and harmony: "unity in diversity" :-)

In 1916 + 1917, surrounded in the Holy Land by the horror of WWI, 'Abdu'l-Bahá sent 14 postcards to the Bahá'is of America and Canada outlining the beginning of fulfilling the promises in every major world religion -- peace on earth, good will towards all, i.e. God's Kingdom on earth. They are known as the Tablets of the Divine Plan.
Tablet 1 was revealed on March 26, 1916, in ‘Abdu’l‑Bahá’s room at the house in Bahjí, outside Akka, Israel (Palestine at that time). It was addressed to the Bahá’ís of nine Northeastern States in the United States: Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Vermont, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. (Recall that He visited America for 8 months in 1912.)
"O ye heavenly heralds:
These are the days of Naw-Rúz. I am always thinking of those kind friends! I beg for each and all of you confirmations and assistance from the threshold of oneness, so that those gatherings may become ignited like unto candles, in the republics of America, enkindling the light of the love of God in the hearts; thus the rays of the heavenly teachings may begem and brighten the states of America like the infinitude of immensity with the stars of the Most Great Guidance."
