StarEagle 2017 Tuvalu Polar Babies Series

Owner:  Shalako
Last Modified:  3/23/2023
Set Description
Tuvalu has a Primary (the only one) S50c, 2012- Date, Proof set that has 32 sets within that category. It has presently 77 eligible coin slots and is basically a dumping ground for all things Tuvalu that are S50c. There are probably at least a half a dozen different sets that could be carved out of those 77 slots. I have asked NGC to create at least 4 new sets and while I wait, I have decided to create custom sets. Advised by NGC Registry that "small sets" will not be created. So "custom sets" will be my only option to showcase these coins!!

Set Goals
This is a 5-coin series and the coins were produced by the Perth Mint for the country of Tuvalu. Who doesn't like baby animals?

The coin is struck from 1/2 ounce of 99.99% pure silver in proof quality. The coin's obverse features a polar bear cub in the snow.

The coin’s reverse features the Ian rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2017 year-date and the monetary denomination.

4th Issue of the Polar Babies Series

Limited Mintage of 5,000 coins

The fourth coin in the charming "Polar Babies" series features the cute harp seal. Harp seal pups are famous for their bright, snowy white coats which help them to blend into their surroundings, hiding them from predators and keeping them warm at the same time. When the pups reach three weeks of age, their fluffy white coat starts to molt, revealing a darker, silvery grey colored fur. These incredible creatures are named for the pattern that forms on their back as they grow older which resembles a harp. This pattern is most distinct on male harp seals.

The coin’s reverse features the Ian rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2017 year-date and the monetary denomination.
