Mexico 1988 Oil Industry Anniversary

Set Description
This is a “mini” set of coins from 1988 that celebrated the anniversary of the nationalization of the oil industry in Mexico. The obverse features a monument called the Fuente de Petróleos, or Oil Monument, in Mexico City. Only 611 of the gold 500 pesos were minted, and it is incredibly rare. It took me years to find one at all, and it is thought that they were given to politicians, oil executives, and other dignitaries. The silver version has a mintage of 20,000 and was a commemorative coin. Even these are scarce, but I found a very nice example that just happens to be a top pop. The brass version was produced as a circulating coin, with a mintage of 50,000,000.
