2015 Baobab Tree Coin NGC PF70 UC ER – WWF Licensed

The 2015 Colorized Silvered WWF Baobab Tree NGC Proof 70 Ultra Cameo Early Releases (PF70 UC ER) coin listed here features a couple of colorized baobab trees on its reverse. It also features a few non-colorized baobab trees in the background as well as the official logo of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

This is a fitting tribute, not only to the WWF, but also to the endangered Adansonia grandidieri or Grandidier’s baobab tree – a tree that is threatened by encroaching agriculture activities. This tree, which can only be found in the island country of Madagascar, bears a massive cylindrical trunk that can grow up to 98 ft. high!

This low mintage, legal tender proof coin of the Central African Republic (CAR) is a WWF licensed coin - it carries the official endorsement of the WWF. Another good reason to purchase this African coin.

Design of the Baobab WWF World Wildlife Fund Coin

The obverse of this 100 Francs (CFA) legal tender coin features the coat of arms of the Central African Republic (CAR).

A couple of colorized and non-colorized Grandidier’s baobab trees are featured on the reverse of this coin in a scene somewhere on the island of Madagascar. Another reason to purchase this coin today, especially at the price listed here.

The obverse of this 2015 Cook Islands Colorized Proof Rainbow Lorikeet features a three dimensional image of two rainbow lorikeets, one in flight and the other perched upon a tree at the left. The one in flight it directed toward the upper right, while the other one has its head lowered. The birds have green bodies, wings, and tails, with blue heads and reddish beaks. Some of the trees in the lower left are colorizes, though there are more trees in the background that are not. An inscription on the left identifies the coin as being part of the “WORLD OF PARROTS” series, while one in the upper right identifies the specific coin by the birds portrayed on it, reading, “RAINBOW LORIKEET.” Under that inscription is the Latin name of the bird, “TRICHOGLOSSUS HAEMATODUS.”

The obverse bears the same effigy of Queen Elizabeth II that is used on the coinage of several other countries. The aging Queen faces to the right side of the coin. She wears a tiara atop her head. Below that tiara is her curly hair, which is portrayed in fine detail and falls low enough to cover half of her hear, which has an earring. Under her neck are the initials of the man who designed the image, “IRB” (Ian Rank-Broadley). Three inscriptions run along the rim of the coin. In the upper left, the Queen is identified with the inscription “ELIZABETH II.” In the upper right is the name of the country that issued the coin, “COOK ISLANDS.” The inscription at the bottom bears the coin’s face value, “5 DOLLARS.”

One of the most complex feats in navigational planning history - the Panama Canal - had just been completed when an exposition organized to celebrate the years of accomplishment in completing the canal project began in San Francisco, California. The exposition brought to California a number of exhibitions from all over the country and the world, but most importantly to the numismatic community, an array of commemorative coins - all designed in the art deco form of the era - which would eventually be considered some of the most beautiful and important coins in America's history.

The United States mint made a half dollar, gold dollar, gold two and a half dollar coin, and two different fifty dollar gold coins to sell at the exposition to collectors seeking a souvenir marking the occasion. The coins were well received, however, most found a $50 gold coin as a keepsake to be above budget, so not many coins were made or sold. Nevertheless, in today's numismatic community its odd shape and size and its beautiful design place it near the top of the list of artistic accomplishment in US Coin history.
Centennial Panama-Pacific Commemorative Design
This two-ounce .999 fine silver coin was minted on the authority of the government of Niue to represent the beauty of the coinage released during the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition. Elements chosen from the original $50 gold coin design are used to showcase the exquisite beauty of the design while commemorating both of the initial issues in one single issue. The pure gold gilt sections of this two-ounce silver coin outline the area collectors could expect to see in the round coin design from 100 years ago, while the overall shape of the coin and the silver parts of the design combined with the gold ring commemorate the uniquely odd octagonal shaped coin issued during the festive event.
Unique commemorative to a unique coin design

This coin was designed by MCM staff artist Charles D. Daughtrey to commemorate what he believes to be one of the most important coins in U.S. commemorative history. To pay tribute to the beauty of the design, original elements of the 1915 design were carefully incorporated into a modern coin giving the viewer a unique passage to the past. Mintage of this exquisite commemorative coin is only 1,915 pieces - to reflect the year of issue of the original coin design.

It tells the story of a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world populated by peculiar and anthropomorphic creatures. The tale plays with logic in ways that have given the story lasting popularity with adults as well as children. It is considered to be one of the best examples of the literary nonsense genre, and its narrative course and structure have been enormously influential, especially in the fantasy genre.

WHITE RABBIT
The White Rabbit is a fictional character in Lewis Carroll’s book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. He appears at the very beginning of the book, in chapter one, wearing a waistcoat, and muttering “Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!” Alice follows him down the rabbit hole into Wonderland. Alice encounters him again when he mistakes her for his housemaid Mary Ann and she becomes trapped in his house after growing too large. The Rabbit shows up again in the last few chapters, as a herald-like servant of the King and Queen of Hearts.

REVERSE
A full colour image of the white rabbit created from the original illustrations in the Alice in Wonderland book. Surrounded by an engraved clock which goes backwards as time goes back in wonderland.
