View Coin   United States 50C 1961 D NGC MS 65 FBL Overall, an exceptional 61-D. Adequate luster with faint, dusty-golden toning. Above average strike; nearly bold. Few surface marks compared to most mint state 61-D coins. Population 102/2/0. Mintage 20,276,442
View Coin   United States 50C 1957 PCGS MS 66 FBL This coin has above average luster. Russet toning on the obverse and golden toning on the reverse which also has some very light purple toning mainly around the eagle. Average strike which is more and more common as one gets into later date Franklins. Very good Full Bell Lines. Population 833/16/0. Mintage 6,361,952
View Coin   United States 50C 1959 D Full Bell Lines PCGS MS 65 FBL Strong luster with some frosting on both sides. Bright white save for two small areas on the obverse. Exceptionally strong strike - the three wisps of hair are clearly visible, the "Pass and Stow" is readable and the bell lines are deep and bold across the entire width of the bell. Population 1652/103/1/0. Mintage 13,053,750
View Coin   United States 50C 1952 D NGC MS 65 FBL Frosty luster slightly better than the average 52-D. Dark but not unattractive toning near the edges of the obverse and reverse. Strong strike overall with the reverse being better than the obverse. Population 303/26/0. Mintage 25,395,600
  United States 50C 1961
View Coin   United States 50C 1963 D PCGS MS 65 FBL Bright white coin with much frosting like its 63-P counterpart. Superb strike with all details very, very clear. One bag mark and some light rub marks keep this coin out of the MS 66 grade. A great coin from the 1960's. Population 916/85/0. Mintage 67,069,292
View Coin   United States 50C 1960 D PCGS MS 65 FBL Bright, white coin with some frosting of the surfaces. Strike is very exceptional for this late date coin. It was likely an early strike from new dies. A few bag marks keep this coin out of the MS 66 grade. Overall an exceptional piece from the 1960's. Population 487/30/1/0. Mintage 18,215,812
View Coin   United States 50C 1960 PCGS MS 65 FBL Completely white coin likely due to the plastic packaging first used in mint sets in 1960. Light rub marks keep this coin from being graded higher. Very exceptional strike when compared to most 60-P coins. Bell lines are clearly full but not among the deepest of the series. Population 840/61/0. Mintage 7,715,603
View Coin   United States 50C 1958 D PCGS MS 66 FBL Decent luster. Golden russet toning on the obverse varying to an almost dark brown on the reverse. Below average strike for a 58-D coin but having very good bell lines. Population 790/55/0. 23,962,412
View Coin   United States 50C 1958 PCGS MS 66 FBL Russet toning with the reverse being darker than the obverse typical of mint set pieces of this year. Average luster. Very strongly struck on the reverse with great detail in the highest points. Weak strike on the obverse; likely from a worn die as the reverse indicates enough pressure was used. Mr. Ehrmantraut wrote in his book on Franklins that "future collectors will recognize the scarcity of the issue" when he was referring to strongly struck, gem pieces. This has proven, I believe, to not be the case as evidenced by population metrics and the low points assigned for the 58-P in registry sets even in MS 66. Population 339/17/0. 4,971,652

View Coin   United States 50C 1954 S NGC MS 65 FBL Luster is adequate on this coin with no heavy marks. Superb reverse strike with very strong and deep lower and upper bell lines which is atypical of most 54-S coins. The strike on the obverse is slightly weak in the area of the wisps of hair near the ear. Barest hint of toning which narrowly keeps me from considering this a brilliant white coin. Population 70/7/0, Mintage 4,993,400

View Coin   United States 50C 1950 D PCGS MS 65 FBL Superb luster overall - a hard to find trait among the 50-D halves. Golden-russet toning on the obverse mostly near the rim. Strong strike overall with particularly deep lower bell lines. Population 713/72/0. Mintage 8,031,600

View Coin   United States 50C 1949 D NGC MS 65 FBL Below average luster which is the norm for a '49-D. Good strike particularly with the lower bell lines which are bold and deep. Golden toning on the obverse with medium to dark russet toning on the reverse which is somewhat distracting. I plan to replace this coin when and if I find a MS66FBL piece. Population 89/9/0. Mintage 4,120,600

View Coin   United States 50C 1948 D PCGS MS 65 FBL Heavy luster with frosting on much of the surfaces. Falls just short of brilliant white as it has just a hint of toning. Very strong strike when looking at the bell lines and the three wisps of hair but weak in the "Pass and Stow" moniker. Population 1837/181/35/0
