OBVERSE: A legendary hero featuring Hercules is seated on a rock on which his lion's skin is spread, holding horn of plenty and the figure 500 representing the value of the coin. The design was based on an ancient coin of King of Salamis Evagoras.
REVERSE: Coat of Arms of the Republic of Cyprus, with the inscription " CYPRUS " in Greek, Turkish and English,and the date of issue 1977.
DESIGNER: Antis Ioannides.
