Obverse: ---- A large building with a spire and vane. Legend: ---** DUNDEE PENNY *** with TOWN HOUSE FOUNDED 1732 in exergue, and "17 97" in the field.

Reverse: --- A detached building with two smaller ones separated from it by gates. Beneath this design in an oval are the Arms of the City of Dundee: (Azure, a pot of growing lilies argent), Crest: (A lily argent), Supporters: (Two Wyverns[sometimes erroneously called dragons even by heraldic authors] vert, their tails knotted together below the shield), and motto: "Dei Donum.". The scale is too small to render the tinctures of the Wyverns. Beneath the buildings on the left is "Wright Jun." and to the right "Des." Legend: --- PUBLIC WAREHOUSES ON THE QUAY SHIPPING OF THE PORT 8,000 TONS REGR.
